Cruiser Command

Cruiser command is a cooperative map between two teams. Simply put, each team controls one battlecruiser and the goal is to kill the opponent's battlecruiser.

At some point this week, likely Friday the 20th, I will be online playing with a few more changes and want to test them with actual players than with just myself.
I will be updating this original post as I decide to make more changes or for future playtesting while siretu is away. Though, if you want to bug me earlier to try it out, let me know when I'm online :)

Enhancements and balance:
  • Fire flares has a cooldown of 1 second instead of none (prevents duplication and lag bug)
  • Fire missile has a cooldown of 2 seconds instead of 1 (prevents spammable scorps unless you manually fire a second one by clicking inventory, tradeoff between aim and rate of fire)
  • Scorpion damage reduced to 40% (previously 50, now 20)
  • Mineral duplication and mineral loss bugs fixed
  • AI miners no longer foolishly wait around the BC to die
  • AI miners no longer launch if the enemy BC is within sight of the BC or too many attack enemies are nearby (not yet implemented)

Fixes:
  • Marine scale issue fixed (no more mini-marine for a very select crowd, myself included)
  • Drone now has a terran ship armor icon instead of a protoss armor icon
  • Updated scorpion tooltips to state the correct damage dealt
  • Mineral packets are not as bright

Previously tested:
  • "Fire ze missiles" button for wraith and corvette
  • Wraith, corvette, and destroyer buttons moved to correspond to QWERT layout (hotkeys remain the same)

Scrapped
  • None

3/3 people that managed to try out firing missiles agree: The changes rock. Onto messing up the AIs into a better state.

Ok balance aside....zakk can work on these little mechanic things and help polish things up!

Also, if Zakk gets the Transporter console, then Erik will have to take zakk as his...intern (unpaid of course)

Also, great initiative. Still not sure the best way to go about it, but oh well.

I do have my editor with me, so I could publish this for real. However it would be a pain for me to try it out and stuff, so I feel like the best course of action is for you guys to try it out in Zak's version and then when you're all content it's definitely ready for public, Zak does a pull request on github and I publish it or something.

I want to change the drone AIs so they don't go through miners during engagements like an addict goes through pills. It's actively annoying when you get engaged, and one AI dives on all miners in a 60 second span and dies on all of them because of what side it launched on / refusing to wait until it's slightly 'safer' to exit. They also refuse to dock even if under attack at times, leading to a very, very easy kill.

Though, if things go well, I may turn it into an upgrade of "Optimize AI miner routines" where it calls the old, semi-suicidal code and the newer, hopefully slightly less suicidal code, after the upgrade is purchased. (Leading into something I've thought about for quite a while, drone upgrades, so then we can even have an "Upgrade to now use the Wraith!" upgrade, or "Upgrade now to use the upgrade console! Only 5 easy payments of $39.99!" upgrade).
