Cruiser Command

Cruiser command is a cooperative map between two teams. Simply put, each team controls one battlecruiser and the goal is to kill the opponent's battlecruiser.

Anyone use the tractor beam? I don't blame ya.

It's not strong enough to capture a destroyer, which is not exactly a fast ship.

The range is short enough that any small ship that gets close enough for it is close enough to be obliterated by broadsides, even if it were strong enough to actually tractor a ship.

IMO, double the projectile speed (which would double the range), and increase the 'pull' force so that it's strong enough to pull in a fully upgraded miner without turbo boost, which moves at like ~60 m/s IIRC.

Tried the new tractor beam changes out.

The speed is perfect. The range of the projectile is good. Since the nav can't move his screen away from the BC, the speed basically means if you can see it, you can grab it. It feels rewarding.

The range of the actual beam wasn't changed from last patch, so I was having an issue where I would grab a chomper from long range, it would hit, and the beam would IMMEDIATELY break.

The tractor pull is still way, way too weak. It's too low to grab a chomper, let alone a miner.

Id like to see a longer range on the beam, and a longer breaking point of the beam also, however the power of it is where it should be now.

There is a glitch i had encoutered when shooting the beam over the edge of the map, the beam never returns to the ship and instead circles the map in confusion o.o

Tested out the tractor beam again this patch. I tested it's pull, and it's got a max of 18 m/s.

A chomper with zero upgrades moves at 19 m/s.

So, technically, it still can't grab a chomper, but whether it still needs to be buffed I'm not certain. It still doesn't feel there yet but it's definitely got some pull as is right now.

EDIT: Well, I look stupid here, the tractor beam's pull is different for each ship, so 'calculating' the pull doesn't work here. The ACTUAL pull is something like 50 m/s against a chomper, which makes the tractor beam pull it around like a ragdoll.

if a wraith gets hit by it, its dead. the m/s must depend on total hull or size of the ship targeted. a wraith moving at 31m/s still gets sucked in.

as it should, those pesky little wraiths should stay away from a BC, i have no problem with that and the fact very few people actually use the tractor beam alot or even getting it

Okay, after seeing it in battle you are completely correct Tempest and I am terribly terribly wrong. The pull is way too high now. It's almost a joke now >_<

EDIT: These are the speeds that I have visually seen:

Miner: 150 m/s (!)
Chomper: 50 m/s
BC: 18 m/s

well we went miner fishing today with the tractor beam and the hardest part was not killing the miners against the battlecruiser's hull.
